Founded in 1975 and chaired by Simone Del Duca, correspondant for the Académie des Beaux-Arts until her death in 2004, the Simone and Cino Del Duca Foundation has been sheltered at the Institut de France since 2005. Simone Del Duca has entrusted at the Institute the care of continuing its work in France and abroad, in the field of arts, letters and sciences by means of subsidies, prizes and aids awarded each year on the proposal of the academies.
The Grand Prix Artistique, endowed with 100,000 euros, is awarded each year on the proposal of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, alternately to a painter, sculptor or composer. The Grand Prix Artistique will thus be awarded in 2020 to a painter.
For the first time, before the award of the prize, the Académie des Beaux-Arts decided to exhibit the artists named. This exhibition should have been held in the Comtesse de Caen Pavilion of the Palais de l'Institut de France. Unfortunately, measures linked to the health crisis in France have not allow the Académie to maintain this exhibition. A presentation of the artists and a selection of their works is therefore offered on the website of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
