Founded by Fabienne Leclerc in 2001, In Situ began in the 13th district of Paris alongside a group of galleries in rue Louise Weiss. After seven years in the 6th, the gallery moved to the Marais in November 2013 before opening a new space at 14 boulevard de la Chapelle in January 2017.

The ambition of In Situ - fabienne leclerc is to promote young and emerging artists in France and internationally, and to support its established artists in the long term. Many artists of the Galerie des Archives - Fabienne Leclerc's first gallery - continue to collaborate with In Situ: Gary Hill (USA), Mark Dion (USA), Patrick Corillon (Belgium), Patrick Van Caeckenbergh (Belgium), Lynne Cohen (USA), Andrea Blum (USA), Florence Paradeis (France).

From 2001, new artists - from France and all over the world - joined the gallery: Bruno Perramant (France), Damien Deroubaix (France), Laurent Tixador (France), Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil (France), Joana Hadjithomas et Khalil Joreige (Lebanon), Noritoshi Hirakawa (Japan), The Blue Noses (Russia), Patrick Tosani (France), Martin Dammann (Germany) ,Meschac Gaba (Benin), Marcel Van Eeden (Netherlands) and as of 2014 Otobong Nkanga (Nigeria) Athi-Patra Ruga (South Africa), Vivien Roubaud (France), Dominique Zinkpè (Benin) and Lars Fredrikson Estate (Sweden).

In Situ - fabienne leclerc strives to support and promote the work of its artists in the gallery, in associated museums and institutions, and to produce and edit artist catalogues and books.
