Born in 1980
Daniele Genadry works with various media to examine how distance, light and movement affect visual experiences. Her practice is focused around the relationship of painting and photography, and through it she considers the potential of an image to generate its own temporality (light), and how a mediated field of vision can sensitize our perception.
Genadry studied at Dartmouth College, NH (BA 2002) and at the Slade School of Art, London (MFA 2008). She has participated in residencies at the Bronx Museum, Anderson Ranch Art Center, NARS Foundation (USA), Fondazione Ratti, Villa Lena (Italy), and Frans Masereel Centrum (Belgium). In 2013-14 she was the Abbey Scholar at the British School at Rome, and is currently a fellow at the Bogliasco Foundation (IT, 2019). Recent solo exhibitions include the Beirut Art Center, Sursock Museum, Gypsum Gallery, and Taymour Grahne Gallery. She has participated in the Sharjah Biennial 13, curated by Christine Tohme, the Biennial del Sur (Tucuman), curated by Nayla Tamraz, and exhibited her work SMBA, Amsterdam; Transition Gallery, London; Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, Rome; and The Bronx Museum. Genadry is an assistant professor of studio arts at the American University of Beirut.
